The details of the updates are summarized in the Update Roadmap.

QWhen reopening the app on Android, the cat and "Today’s breakdown" turn completely black.
A

I had one report back in 2.0.2 and none since then. I have fixed the redrawing since, so I believe it no longer happens.

If you experience the same issue, please send a screenshot, your device name, Android version, and how you closed the app to [email protected]. It would be very helpful.

What You Can Do
QI want to clock in and out from a widget
A

You can put a widget on your Home Screen. Clock in, take a break, and clock out without opening the app, with your cat walking along with today's time. Long-press the Home Screen, open "Widgets", and search for "ねこ勤怠".

On iPhone, this works on iOS 17 or later. While you're working, your time and cat also appear on the Lock Screen and Apple Watch. On Android, your time shows in the notification while you work. Please open the app once first

QI don't know how to edit records.
A

Tap the day you want to edit on the "Month" screen, and open "Edit time". For today's records, you can also edit them from "Edit time" on the Home screen. Any time you forgot to log can be added from "+ Add a record". For a new record, simply set the start and end, and it will be added as is. When you edit an existing record, confirm with "Done" in the top right.

Tap the time to enter it in 1-minute increments. The [-] and [+] buttons move by 10 minutes. If you can't tap a date in "Month", please try updating the app to the latest version.

QI want to add a record while I'm still working
A

Within the same day, you can add time before your current record, even while still working. If you're still working past midnight, please clock out once, then add it.

QI fell asleep and forgot to clock out.
A

When you open Home the next day, you'll see a note that the day did not have a clock-out time. You can edit the previous day's record from "Edit time" in that note. If it doesn't appear, go to the "Month" screen, tap the previous day, and edit it there.

The time you clocked in is saved on your device, so your record will not disappear. There is no need to reinstall the app.

QI forgot to start my break. I want to add it later.
A

In "Edit time", you can add it by splitting the record before and after the break. Set the "End" of the pre-break record to the time you started your break, and use "+ Add a record" to add the time after your break. The time in between will be excluded from your work hours.

QI want to switch to a different task while working.
A

If you are currently working, just tap the next task in "What you're working on". It will start recording the new task from that time. You can also select the next task after clocking out or during a break.

The bug where you couldn't switch tasks after clocking out has been fixed. If it doesn't change when tapped, please try updating the app to the latest version.

QWhat if I work past midnight?
A

If you just clock out as usual, it will be recorded separately for each date. If you want to group overnight work into the same day, please change the "Start time for a new day" in Settings to something like "4:00 AM". When adding a record later, if you enter Start 22:00 and End 2:00, it will be recorded as the next day's time.

Settings → Start time for a new day. You can set it to any time from midnight to noon.

QI want to rearrange my task categories.
A

In "What you're working on" on the Home screen, you can long-press a category to rearrange them in any order you like.

QI want to change the cat's name later.
A

In "Cat shop" in Settings, tap the cat's name to rewrite it. If you confirm while it's empty, it will revert to the original name.

QI want to change the cat's fur or eye color
A

You can make one in "Your own cats". Open it from the house icon at the top right of the Cat shop, then tap "Create a cat" to pick colors for the body, marks, outline, eyes, collar and paw pads, a pattern such as calico or bicolor, and short or long hair. Slots are a one-time purchase, one per cat, and the cat in a slot can be remade as many times as you like.

From 2.5.0. While you're on the Support plan, you get one extra slot

QDoes it keep recording even if I turn off the screen?
A

Yes, it does. After clocking in, it's fine to turn off the screen or open other apps. ねこ勤怠 doesn't run constantly in the background; it remembers the time you clocked in and calculates it the next time you open the app.

QI can't tap the clock-in button.
A

You cannot clock in if you don't have any task categories. If you create one from "Add a new task" in "Task categories" in Settings, you will be able to tap it.

QI want to see "from what time to what time" I worked on a past day
A

If you tap a date on the "Month" screen, you can see the total for that day and the start and end times for each task.

QI want to see the total time I've worked so far
A

From the button at the top right of the "Log" screen, you can see your all-time total, the number of days logged, and a breakdown by task.

QI want to see the total time as "6 hours 54 minutes" instead of "6.9h"
A

Open "Goals and settings" in Settings. Under the daily goal, find "Time display" and choose "Precise". Whether you reach your goal is judged the same either way.

Available from 2.5.0. Widgets and the lock screen stay in the "6.9h" format

QI want to use it in landscape
A

Turn your phone sideways on the app's Home screen, and the cat and the time appear larger. Nice for glancing at while you work. You can still clock in, take a break, clock out, and switch tasks. Only Home turns sideways; the other screens stay portrait.

From 2.5.0. If auto-rotate is off on your device, it won't turn sideways

QThe widget doesn't show up in the list (iPhone)
A

Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets work on iOS 17 or later. The app installs from iOS 16.4, but on iOS 16 it does not appear in the widget list. Open Settings → General → About to check your iOS version.

The widgets are called "Time & punch" and "Cats & this week". They may not be listed under the app name

QWidget buttons do nothing, or the time stays at 0 minutes (Android)
A

If your phone's battery setting has the app set to "Restricted", the widget cannot record a punch and the time stays frozen. Open Settings → Apps → ねこ勤怠 → Battery and choose anything other than "Restricted".

Depending on the phone it may be called "Background restriction" or "Battery saver"

QThe cat on my Lock Screen disappeared (iPhone)
A

Your records are still there. Open the app, or make your next punch, and it comes back. The Lock Screen display follows iPhone rules, so it can disappear by itself after you have worked a while.

You can also swipe it away to the left yourself. This does not affect your records

QCan I transfer my records when changing devices?
A

You can transfer them from "Backups" in the settings. First, export it to a file and save it to your device. On your new device, load that file into the same "Backups" and you're all set.

I hope to make this process a bit more convenient in the future.

QCan I suddenly take a day off just for today?
A

Yes, you can. Tap the day on the "Week" screen and the "Set as day off" button will appear. You can also tap the Boss on the Home screen to change this week's days off all at once. You can also cancel it later.

QDoes the date always change at midnight?
A

You can change it in Settings to any time from midnight to noon. If you set it to "4:00 AM", late-night work will be recorded on the same day.

Settings → Start time for a new day

QDo the weekly and daily goals have to add up?
A

They don't have to match. The weekly goal is the total for the whole week, while the daily goal is a guide for "about this much today", so they are treated as separate things.

Goals can be set from 30 minutes, in 30-minute steps (from 2.5.0). Even if your working hours differ between working days and days off, it's fine if the numbers don't add up.

QCan I restore a deleted task category?
A

If you open "Deleted tasks" in the settings, you can restore task categories. You can collapse the list when you don't need it.

Tasks with records are kept so that the totals don't break. I want to make it possible to completely delete those with 0 hours.

QI want the app to support languages other than Japanese.
A

You can also use it in English, 한국어, and 繁體中文. It switches according to your device's language, and you can also choose it in Settings.

To those who offered to translate or gave advice, thank you very much.

QCan I download it from overseas stores?
A

It is available in all countries and regions on both the App Store and Google Play.

About the Support plan
QWhat changes if I join the Support plan?
A

You can choose either of the two rainbow cats as your companion, and you also get one slot in "Your own cats" to make a cat in your favorite colors. There is no difference in features. Whether you support or not, what you can do remains the same.

It's ¥300 per month. It's a form of support to continue development.

QI supported, but the rainbow cat isn't walking.
A

Just by joining, your companion won't switch automatically. In the "Cat shop" in Settings, please select the rainbow cat and tap "Choose".

Only your companion cat walks on the Home screen.

QI changed my device. What happens to the Support plan and the slots I bought?
A

The Support plan can be restored from "Restore purchases" on the support screen. Slots in "Your own cats" can be restored from "Restore purchased slots" on the "Your own cats" screen. Both need the same Apple ID / Google account and the same OS (iPhone to iPhone, or Android to Android).

The cat's appearance isn't restored this way. It's in the "Backups" file, so carry it over from there

QWhat happens to the rainbow cat if I stop supporting?
A

Even if you cancel, you can use the perks until the current period ends. After that, a free cat automatically becomes your companion. The cat in the Support plan slot becomes unavailable, but its colors stay saved.

Your records and settings will not change at all.

Looking ahead
QI want to set detailed goals for each day of the week and each week
A

I would like to let you set a different daily goal for each day of the week. Per week or per task category may be difficult.

I'll be careful not to clutter ねこ勤怠 with too many settings.

QWill there be more cats in the future?
A

Version 2.1.0 added 6 more cats, bringing the free cats to 15. Add the 2 rainbow cats from the Support plan, and that makes 17 in total. From 2.5.0, "Your own cats" lets you make a cat in your favorite colors (one-time purchase slots, one per cat, up to 10). I'd like to keep adding more, little by little.

You can get 2 rainbow cats through the Support plan. I spend a lot of time drawing each pixel art cat. Cats added in the future may require a purchase.

QI want to have more than one cat
A

Only one cat, your companion, walks on Home. You can have up to 10 slots in "Your own cats" and switch with "Walk with this cat". Having several cats walk together is something I'd like to do.

QI want to pet the cats and give them treats
A

I've received many requests for this. I also have a desire to try making it. Right now, I'm prioritizing fixing bugs.

Petting, treats, toys, and dress-up. I'm keeping all the ideas I've received.

QThe widget's time keeps going / the buttons don't work
A

There are still some bugs around widgets. The time keeps going even after you clock out in the app, break and clock-out don't work on Android, and so on. I'll be fixing these widget bugs.

I'm also looking into widgets not appearing in the list on some Android devices, and widgets not turning see-through in the "Clear" look on iOS 26

QI want to export my records as a CSV file.
A

I will look into it. However, it might take some time.

QI want break prompts at regular intervals, and daily reminders.
A

I will look into recurring break prompts. I do want to add a daily morning notification. I'll make it so you can toggle it on and off, but it might take a little while.

Currently, "Time before a break invitation" and "Break length" start from 30 minutes, in 30-minute increments.

QI want to change the theme color and the colors of task categories.
A

I want to do this. I'm not sure yet if it will be exactly as you imagine, but I want to make backgrounds changeable too and keep the look fun and exciting. You can currently choose from 12 colors for task categories. Whether to add more will be considered together with this. For now, you can switch between "Light" and "Dark" at the top right of Settings.

You can choose it from "Change color" in "Task categories" in Settings.

QI want to use it on my PC or browser.
A

I've received many requests for this. I'm also preparing a PC version.

Once I decide how to handle data transfer and linking from the smartphone version, I'll let you know.

To see what's coming in each update, check the
Update Roadmap.

Things that might be difficult
QI want to enter my hourly wage and see how much I've earned.
A

I'm sorry, but I have no plans for this. Rather than calculating money, ねこ勤怠 values the idea of "casually counting your own time."

I will consider if this can be supported in a separate, powered-up app.

QI want to count two tasks at the same time.
A

The app is designed to record only one task at a time. I value a simple user experience, so I have no plans to change this for now.

QI want to change the words "Clock in" and "Clock out".
A

You cannot change them right now. People use it for study and hobbies too, so I do want to let you choose the words.

I'd also like to develop an app for those who are studying hard, so I want to make it possible to choose the words there.

QI want to use the same records on both my iPhone and iPad.
A

I'm sorry, but syncing is not supported. This is because I plan to keep records only on the device, and I have no plans to create a login feature.

It will be a while, but I'd like to make a powered-up version with account linking.

QI want to set days off and shifts in advance
A

Within the current week, you can set them in advance. If you tap the Boss (Cat) on the Home screen, you can change this week's days off all at once. Setting them for next week or the week after is not possible.

If your days off are on the same days every week, you can set them from Settings now.

QI also want notes and a to-do list.
A

I read all of your requests. I've thought about it carefully, but I feel it might be better to make it a separate app.

I want to make a powered-up app where you can manage work in more detail. I'm considering it for that app.

QI want a Pomodoro timer.
A

I'm torn about this. I haven't used one much myself, so I'll decide after studying it...

I'd like to develop an app specialized in focusing on study and hobbies.

QI want animals other than cats (like dogs).
A

I can't draw animals other than cats, so it might be difficult. Even if I try my best, for now I want to add more cats little by little.

QI want to try using it with my company or team.
A

To all companies, I look forward to hearing from you.
